Today I finished outlining all of the chapters for Character A’s story arc (she has a name but it’s not finalized so I don’t like using it in the writing logs).

I’m going to have Character B’s story arc outlined by this time next week.

Like I said in my previous writing log, I’m working in reverse. I finished the second draft last month. Now I’m outlining it. Once the outline is finished, I’m going to do another close reading of the second draft and log all the changes I want/need to make. I’ll apply those changes to the outline I made, and I’ll have an outline for the third draft to work from. It’s a bit of a convoluted process but it’s working for me.

Already I’m starting to see the pieces slide together. Those rare moments where the noise becomes music – if only for an instant – make the effort worthwhile.

By the end of the month I’d like to have started the third draft. We’ll see how things go.
